Formbricks self-hosted: upgrade to 6.1.0
Formbricks has released a fix for a security issue in single-use survey links. We rated it medium severity. Formbricks already knew about the issue and had a fix in progress when we reported it to them on 19 September 2026. This note is only so operators know to upgrade.
The issue affects single-use links created with URL encryption on, which is the default. The fix is not in any stable release before 6.1.0, and it is not in the later releases on the older lines, including 6.0.5, 5.4.8, and 5.3.5, the latest releases on the 6.0, 5.4, and 5.3 lines. The first release that contains the fix is 6.1.0, published on 19 October 2026. It is still in 6.1.1, published on 22 October 2026, and in 6.1.2, published on 27 October 2026. Install 6.1.0 or a later version numbered 6.1 or higher.
A person who had a single-use link for one survey could open and submit a different single-use survey on the same Formbricks installation.
Upgrade self-hosted installations to 6.1.0 or a later version numbered 6.1 or higher. Upgrading only as far as 6.0.5, 5.4.8, or 5.3.5 does not include this fix. After upgrading, create and send new single-use links. Formbricks documents an optional setting that keeps old links working for a limited time. Leave that setting off. The vendor warns that turning it on brings this issue back.
